Update an existing install

  1. Install over the top
Use a release with the same signing identity and an equal or higher build number. Install without removing the app to keep local data and your device code.
  2. Do not uninstall first
Uninstalling clears the app's local data. Diagnose a failed update using the steps below before considering a reinstall.
  3. Check the version
After the update the version number in the app should match the one shown on this page.

If an install or update fails

  1. If the update says App not installed
Keep the installed app. Check supported platforms, free storage and the downloaded file checksum, then compare build numbers. If your installed build is newer, wait for a newer release instead of uninstalling.
  2. Confirm signing compatibility
If a valid download still cannot update, ask your provider to check the signing identity. Only reinstall after a confirmed signing mismatch and accepting loss of local data, including pairing and on-device preferences.
  3. After a reinstall
Check your device code (MAC) in Max App. If it changed, ask your provider to help reconnect your playlist and activation.
  4. Still stuck?
Check the FAQ or ask your provider. Tell them the app version and the message shown by the installer.
